We Have a Truck…..Almost!

After nearly three months of shopping we have a truck!!!! We’re just waiting for it to be shipped so we can install the fifth wheel hitch and get ready for our trip out to Kansas to see our son.

Patience is not a virtue of mine but God granted me the patience I prayed for during our search.

The beauty and irony of this story lies in the fact that the truck we found was located in the same KS town where our son lives. How about that!

After a flawless transaction with the then current owner, our son picked it up on Saturday and we are now awaiting shipment.

There is no perfect scenario if you are shopping for a truck to pull your rig. All I can say is…do your research, vent your frustrations to God and your significant other to keep your sanity and remain patient during your search.

We are now just days away from receiving our new/used truck and we couldn’t be happier. At the end of the day though, it is just a thing. Thank you God for keeping up humble during the process!

Truck Shopping for your 5th Wheel

I have a lot of experience in the automobile industry but I experience the same frustrations as everyone else when shopping for a truck. Do I go diesel or gas? Do I want a supercab or crew cab? Do I want a Ford or Chevy?

At the end of the day, do your homework. I think at this point, I have over analyzed everything. Those who know me well will not be shocked. Ha!

Read the many blogs and forums available to you. Visit with your local mechanic. Ask tons of questions.

At the end of the day, does it feel right for you and does it fit your style. Most importantly, does it have the horsepower and torque required to pull your rig?

I am not a mechanic. I have to rely on the experts in order to make an informed decision. I suggest you do the same.

Cheers!

Love Pungo Pizza!

We are not food critics by any means but we do enjoy sharing info on local restaurants because we believe in supporting fellow small business owners. When we arrived in Va Beach several weeks ago, we drove by Pungo Pizza on the way to our RV campground. The parking lot was full. That’s always a good sign. A couple of weeks later, we decided to try them out along with our grandchildren, daughter, and son-in-law. What a treat! I couldn’t eat it all. We ordered a large and should have ordered the small but had plenty to take home for another meal.

Last night, we tried them again. Nicole was our server and she grew up in the area and obviously knew everyone there. They make you feel like you are part of the family. I also tried their Hershey’s ice cream for dessert and was not disappointed.

So, if you travel through Pungo on a regular basis, you should give them a try. Thank you to Nicole and the kind staff for making our trip worthwhile.

Cheers!

Thank You Don!

Big shout out to Donald Bennett of Don’s Locksmith Services in Chesapeake. Yes, you can lock yourself outside of your RV if both sets of keys are in the house and you left the door lock in the wrong position.

Don was truly HEAVEN SENT. An hour later and we would have been dealing with darkness and a tremendous downpour.

Word to the wise, hide a key somewhere outside so you don’t have to make the call we did. In this instance though, it was no coincidence that Don answered the call. We had a great conversation afterwards and I gave him a tour of our tiny home.

Hope to see you again Don, but in a different setting.

Blessings!

One of Our Favorite New Va Beach Restaurants

We are slowly catching up since moving to Va Beach. Just wanted to give a shout out to The Bee and The Biscuit in the quaint community of Pungo, just a short drive from Va Beach proper. We knew we were in for a treat when we noticed a full parking lot and overflow crowd in the garden area outside. The setting is a quaint little bungalow home that serves a great breakfast and lunch! We enjoyed a medley of fruit, pancakes, bacon, and yes, Gina had to have her omelet. The service was great and we felt so at home. The Bee and the Biscuit reminds me why I drive past most chain restaurants in search of something different. Stop by for a meal and see for yourself.

We Met Our Goal!

Well, it’s been a long road but we finally made it to Virginia Beach, again! Ha! We had to return to Nashville for our estate sale (we had no estate, that’s what they call it, we just had a lot of stuff to sell). Now we are waiting on the closing of our home there and everything will be finalized. Our original goal was to be here by June 1 and we are a few weeks early.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen from Berenice Denton Estate Sales, to our friends who helped with the move, and to our kids for welcoming us here with open arms.

We are NOMADS and proud of it. One family member said a few years ago, I keep your address in pencil. That’s quite alright because it will be changing.

We leave for KS in July to see our son for a couple of months.

Back in Nashville!

Well, our first two weeks in Virginia Beach in our new (used) fifth wheel was everything we had hoped for and more.   Getting to see family on a daily basis was icing on the cake.  We so appreciate everyone’s interest in our blog.  We are back in Nashville to wrap things up on the house and then back on the road to VA.  God Bless and thank you for following us!
