Follow Your Passion to Fund Your Journey!

This could easily be a post about our business.  It’s our blog after all.  I really wanted to focus however on the multitude of questions I read everyday from people who ask the question, “How Do You Make a Living on the Road?”.  These are not questions directed at us personally but rather questions we read every day on various social media platforms.

It’s my belief that if you follow someone else’s passion, you will fail because you will never be inspired by someone else’s dream.  We all use to dream big dreams as children and then somewhere along the way, society said over and over, “you can’t do that, or you’re not good enough or smart enough” and we for the most part bought into that type of negative thinking.

Take some time to discover your strengths, please.  If you simply desire to jump on the next big thing, you’ll jump off as quickly as you jumped on.  I have had the good fortune of meeting either in person or online several “smart cookies” who have very interesting careers who are making it work on the road.  I’ve seen everything from blogging to photography to website design, to selling vintage photos on Etsy and Ebay.  Now that’s creative!

My wife and I do a number of different things and are trying to focus on just a couple moving forward.  We are proud members of the direct sales movement having planted our flag with Send Out Cards.  We use them to inspire others, celebrate successes, act on prayer requests, etc.  And yes, we use them to build a business.

Before I digress, let’s focus on my original point.  If you don’t invest in yourself to discover who you are more comfortable being ( I hope you are more comfortable in your own skin than someone else’s) and what you’d really like to focus on, then you will find yourself running in circles, chasing after whims, and ending up right where you started.

Have we failed at starting and running businesses?  You bet!  Has it made us tougher and wiser?  I certainly hope so.   You will never know unless you try and when someone else says ” you can’t”, remember this, they’d rather rain on your parade because they don’t have what it takes to do it themselves.  That’s called jealously and envy!

Please share your success stories because while you may not join us on our journey, we’ll celebrate what you choose to do because it’s the right thing to do!  God Bless!
